edition of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition marks
the 20 years anniversary from the first participation of an Italian team in the
competition. Back in 2003, students from Università degli Studi Roma Tre
and Univesità Cattolica del Sacro Cuore competed against each other in the
first Italian National Rounds.
It is therefore a happy coincidence that the 2023 Italian National Rounds will
be hosted by Università degli Studi Roma Tre, whose 2003 team was the first to
win the title of Italian National Champion.
decades, many things have changed. Year after year, the number of the
universities participating in this competition has sharply increased. In this
edition, 11 teams will face each other to win the title : this is the highest
number in the history of Jessup Italy so far. Geographical representation
also changed dramatically, and today we see the participation of teams from all
over the country, from North to South with islands included.
Over this time, Jessup Italy contributed
to build a network of professionals among its alumni, who today live up to the ‘Spirit
of the Jessup’ – camaraderie, academic excellence, competitiveness, and
appreciation of fellow competitors – in their work as lawyers in renowned international
lawfirms, international organisation and European institutions.
In this occasion, we wish to acknowledge how the organization of the Jessup
competition and the creation of such a community in Italy would not have been
possible without the help of Jessup Italy's sponsors. They not only supported
our initiative financially, but showed, year after year, to believe in this
project and in its the educational and professional value in shaping the
lawyers of tomorrow.
The 2023 Italian National
Rounds see the support of
Chiomenti, Cleary Gottlieb, Freshfields Bruckhaus
Deringer, Gianni & Origoni, RP Legal & Tax, which we will never thank enough for their support to the realization of this unique event
in the history of Jessup.
forward to seeing you all in Roma and celebrate together our first 20th
